Currently, Dr. T. Rohani Bastami is an associate professor at the Chemical Engineering Department, Quchan University of Technology in Quchan, Iran. She is the leader of a nano-biosensor research group at Quchan University of Technology, in collaboration with the Industrial Biotechnology Research Group at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Her scientific interests lie in fundamental synthetic chemistry and applied materials science. She conducts two primary areas: Synthesis of solar/visible light nano-photocatalysts/magnetic
nanophotocatalyst for the degradation of pollutants in water media under solar light as free and accessible energy, synthesis of nanomaterials as nano-biosensors and their application for the diagnosis of biomarkers, pathogens, viruses, chemicals, exosomes, and drugs in body fluids. The nano-biosensor research group addresses global challenges in healthcare and the environment through
innovations in materials and nanoscience. By utilizing molecular design and synthesis, she develops responsive functional materials for applications ranging from health to catalysis. In her laboratory, her research focuses on the feedback loop between fundamental and applied science, where understanding the interactions between molecules or materials with different surfaces and biology is crucial to improving and refining application materials. Her research group aims to develop and manufacture innovative nanobiosensors that can detect pharmaceuticals, toxins, chemicals, viruses, pathogens, biomarkers, and drug abuse in biological fluids.
In 2024, she had a position as a Visiting Professor at Tor Vergata University of Rome, Department of Chemical Science and Technologies, Sensor Group under the direction of Professor Paolesse.
